1. The Rookery
The Rookery is located in the fashionable area of Clerkenwell, between the West End and London’s central business district, known as The City. It is like Soho in the east, with bustling street life and a plethora of fascinating places to eat and drink.
Quietly located a short distance from the Barbican, St Paul’s, Holborn and The Tate Modern, the only remaining early houses in St Peter’s Lane have been repaired and extended to create our delightful small hotel. Inside, the Rookery is all period charm. Polished wood panelling, stone flagged floors, open fires and genuine antique furniture give the place a warm, homely atmosphere – more private club than hotel.
The rooms are traditionally furnished, with panelled walls and mellow old furniture, pictures and rugs. A comfortable room in elegant surroundings: no wonder the Rookery is such a favourite with stage, film and media people from all over the world. As for breakfast croissants are baked fresh every morning and a delicious breakfast is served to you in your room or in the Conservatory.
2. The St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel
Forming part of St Pancras International train station, this elegant hotel has immediate access to the high speed Eurostar service and the Tube. The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London exemplifies High Victorian Gothic architecture in its most dramatic sense, the stunning redbrick building having been saved from demolition in the sixties by a protest led by former Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman. Preserving the glamour of the old station and the romance of rail travel during the 1800s, the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London will maintain its elegance and charm by offering global travellers a gateway to London in the form of one of the city’s greatest landmarks.
Many unique features of the original hotel remain, including Gothic Revival architecture and ornate interior decoration. These have been complemented by a 24-hour gym and health spa to help guests unwind.
At the Gilbert Scott Brasserie and Bar, celebrated chef Marcus Wareing serves a menu showing the best of regional British cuisine. A range of traditional ales and Victorian punches are also on offer at the Booking Office Bar.
The £150 million renovation of the 245-room hotel consists of the historic St Pancras Chambers that houses 38 elegant and spacious Victorian bedroom suites, and Barlow House, the newly created 120,000 square foot extension that features original artwork and contemporary design. The hotel also houses a 350 capacity ballroom, a private club, a barber’s shop and luxury spa, that includes a swimming pool and 7 treatment rooms.
