“The Rock” Johnson has given the audience another side of his acting when starring as the live-action Bambi.

Disney has been making a killing releasing live-action versions of its classic animated films in the last few years, with movies like “Maleficent” and “Cinderella” raking in the gold.

On the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live”, the hilarious sketch features Johnson playing a live-action version of Bambi, who is hell-bent on revenge after losing his mother to a hunter.

As you’d expect from the muscular actor and former wrestler, “SNL” depicts Bambi as a badass deer who, together with his furry friends, takes up arms and ventures out to kill those who hunted his mother when he was a child.

His furry friends include “Furious 7″ stars Vin Diesel as Thumper, Tyrese Gibson as Flower and Michelle Rodriguez as Faline. (Or, more accurately, SNL cast members play Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez playing those characters in the action-packed, bullet-laden trailer.)

Johnson hosted “SNL” over the weekend in part to promote the upcoming release of “Furious 7,” the latest in the “Fast & Furious” franchise and the last to feature Paul Walker, who died in a car crash while the movie was still in production.

The sketch mocks the current trend for Disney to take on live-action versions of animated classics: “Cinderella” and “Maleficent” are the most recent, while “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Jungle Book” are due out in the next couple of years. Although a live-action “Bambi” might seem ridiculous, Disney is currently developing a live-action “Dumbo,” so this might be as far-fetched as it seems.
